Apax in SK FireSafety secondary buyout
Apax France has agreed to buy Netherlands-based fire safety company SK FireSafety Group from Bencis Capital Partners, Scheybeek Investments and individual shareholders.
The GP completed the investment via Apax France VIII, a €700m mid-cap fund that closed in 2011.
Under Apax's stewardship, the company will pursue international expansion and intends to grow its share of the traditional fire safety market.
Previous funding
In 2010, Amsterdam-based buyout house Bencis led the management buyout of SK FireSafety. The GP drew down capital from Bencis Buyout Fund III, which closed on €375m in 2007, according to unquote" data.
Company
Based in Breda, the Netherlands, SK FireSafety focuses on three areas: sale and maintenance of fire protection products; design and installation of fire detection and suppression systems and equipment; and maintenance of cabin safety equipment in the aviation sector.
The company operates in Belgium, the UK, Norway and the United Arab Emirates, and employs 650 staff. In 2013, the group reported a turnover in excess of €100m – up from €40m in 2011.
