Lion Capital has acquired AS Adventure Group, a Belgian specialty retailer of outdoor equipment and clothing, for €263m. The financing for the transaction was provided by Lloyds TSB.

Company

Founded in 1995, AS Adventure is a specialty retailer of branded outdoor products. The company operates 56 stores across Belgium (AS Adventure) and the UK (Cotswold Outdoor), and the recent acquisition of Dutch Bever Zwerfsport from Halder (November/December 2007, page 28) added another 29 sales outlets to the company’s portfolio. The company’s products include biking, trekking, climbing, skiing and camping accessories and casual outdoor clothing. It had net sales of €205m in 2007.
