Residex launches Health Capital II
Fund
Residex has launched its fourth vehicle, Health Capital II. It has recently started fundraising with a target set between EUR45-60m entailing a EUR15m participation by the Dutch insurer Achmea. The fund will have a lifespan of eight to 10 years.
Residex Group also invests through Health Innovation Fund in ventures and through Life Science Partners in biotechnology, both in the Netherlands.
Investors
Residex is looking for four investors who will be willing to subscribe to a minimum of EUR10m each and who will be interested in the health sector. Achmea has already subscribed to EUR15m. Residex will privilege strategic investors and banks.
Investments
The fund will target companies in the healthcare sector that already generate turnover, with a potential of approximately EUR20m. The fund plans to specialise in a buy-and-build strategy. Investments are limited to the Benelux region where there are many small companies in the health sector.
The transaction value will range between EUR2-8m, while the investors will seek to acquire large minority stakes. Co-investment is possible, but not desired.
Investments in the healthcare are long-term investments. It is possible that the fund will seek to exit its whole portfolio at once, if it achieves its aim of creating a network between its portfolio companies.
People
The fund will be managed by the Residex team.
