Szymański to leave Waterland's Warsaw office amid departures
Half of the investment team at Waterland Private Equity's Warsaw office, including principal Maciej Szymański, are leaving the firm, according to three sources familiar with the situation.
The Warsaw investment team currently counts six professionals, including Szymański.
Szymański joined the firm in February 2015 as principal, with responsibility for Waterland's operations in the Polish market and investments concernign themes of outsourcing and efficiency, ageing population, leisure and luxury items, and sustainability.
Prior to joining, Szymański worked as the chief executive officer of Warsaw-listed Empik Media and Fashion, a retail group operating stores in Poland, Germany, Russia and Ukraine. Before that, he was employed in various role at Sephora, a French producer of personal care products.
Founded in 1999, Waterland has offices in Antwerp, Bussum, Manchester, Munich, Hamburg, Copenhagen and Warsaw.
Waterland declined to comment on the departures.
