Highlander Partners opens Romania office
US-based mid-market private equity house Highlander Partners has opened its second CEE office in Bucharest, Romania.
The GP has opened its inaugural office in the region in Warsaw, after entering the Polish market in 2008.
Ben Slater will take on the role as head of CEE Romania, overseeing the team of four investment professionals in Bucharest, after being promoted to director in Highlander's US private equity practice. Slater joined Highlander in 2016 and is based in Dallas.
Commenting on the new Bucharest office, Highlander said the move reflects its ongoing commitment to opportunities in the CEE area. In particular, the market for private equity investments in Romania looked promising to the GP and provides a local base from which to continue its investment activities.
Alongside the new office opening, Highlander also announced an additional promotion for its CEE-focused team. Stewart Baseley, who joined the firm in 2008, has been named chairperson for CEE Poland and will oversee the activities in Poland, which continue to be managed by Dawid Walendowski and Artur Dżagarow, as co-managing partners of CEE Poland.
