EBRD appoints new regional director for Romania, Bulgaria
The European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) has appointed Mark Davis as new regional director, effective from April.
Davis will lead operations in Romania and Bulgaria, offering investment, advice and support for reforms.
The bank is involved in the financing of 426 projects in Romania with the majority of those in the industrial and infrastructure sectors. In Bulgaria, EBRD has 250 projects, with the majority in the energy and financial services sectors.
Davis currently acts as an adviser to EBRD vice-president for banking Allain Pilloux, based in London. Davis joined the bank in 2013 as head of Armenia and was involved in the creation of the Armenian Private Equity Fund. He has previously worked for Morgan Stanley and Goldman Sachs.
In 2018, the bank invested more than €400m in Romania and more than €185m in Bulgaria. Davis has suggested that he plans to continue this level of investment in the two countries.
