
Abris buys Green Group
Abris Capital Partners has acquired a majority stake in Romanian recycling business Green Group.
The investor, together with CEO Clement Hung, acquired the business from the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) and Greek private equity firm Global Finance. It hopes to further expand the company's recyclables collection. Green Group will also invest in the expansion of its regenerated polyester fibre production facilities and hopes to be the largest producer of polyester staple fibre (PSF) in Europe by 2017.
During EBRD's and Global Finance's ownership, Green Group created a nationwide collection infrastructure in Romania.
Previous funding
In December 2011, Global Finance and EBRD acquired a majority stake in Green Group for €23.5m. Global Finance invested €16.7m and EBRD €6.8m.
Company
Founded in 2002 and based in Buzau, Green Group is a recycling business operating in Romania and south-eastern Europe. It recycles waste streams including PET, electric and electronic waste, glass and batteries.
Green Group operates waste collection and recycling facilities in Romania, Serbia and Macedonia. It had a turnover of €90m in 2015.
