Mid Europa sells Knjaz Miloš to KMV, PepsiCo JV
Mid Europa Partners has sold Serbian soft drinks producer Knjaz Miloš to a joint venture between Karlovarské Minerální Vody and PepsiCo.
The GP made the divestment from Mid Europa IV, ending a holding period of four years for the fund.
Mid Europa acquired Knjaz Miloš as part of the buyout Danube Foods Group. It also acquired biscuit maker Bambi in the transaction, which it sold to The Coca Cola Company earlier in the year.
Coca Cola was also interested in Knjaz Miloš, according to the company director Andrej Jovanovic. Speaking to Serbian newspaper Vecernje Novosti in February this year, Jovanovic said: "It is not true that we have already sold Knjaz Miloš to Coca Cola. If you are asking me if they are interested in buying, I can confirm that they are. Someone like Coca Cola is a good partner and there is a possibility."
Mid Europa still owns Imlek, which was also acquired in the Danube buyout.
Company
Knjaz Miloš is a Serbian mineral water producer based in Aranđelovac. It was founded in 1811, employed 637 people at the end of 2017, and posted total revenues of €70.3m that year.
