EVCA release private equity figures
The European Private Equity & Venture Capital Association (EVCA) has released ‘The Survey of the Economic and Social Impact of Venture Capital in Europe’, which was carried out in cooperation with the Nottingham University Business School. In the course of the research project 364 early-stage companies in 17 countries and 16 industries, which received funding between 1995 and 2001, were surveyed regarding the influence of venture capital on their development.EVCA has also released statistical indications of the first quarter 2002, which suggest sluggish investment activity throughout the research period. A large volume of expansion and buyout funding implies that investors are continuing to limit risk; however, EVCA also says that more than two-thirds of all first quarter investments were first round transactions.
