Heiner Rutt has been appointed as managing director to join Carlyle’s Munich office. He will co-head the company’s !1bn buyout fund and will be working on new investments in existing and future funds. Rutt joins from JP Morgan where he was managing director. Previous to that he was president at Washington-based client-software firm Proxicom. He also worked some 20 years with Boston Consulting Group and was a founding member of the firm’s German operations. Rutt is replacing Dr Hans Albrecht, who identified him as a qualified candidate. Albrecht set up Carlyle’s German buyout team 1997, but has now left in order to found his own fund-management firm Nordwind.
