Gimv strengthens presence in Munich
Belgian GP Gimv has appointed a partner and two new principals in its Munich office, to bolster its presence in the DACH region.
Philipp von Hammerstein has been promoted to partner in the GP's health and care division after serving as principal at Gimv since 2016. He previously worked for KPMG in the German deal advisory team.
Friedrich von Wallwitz has joined the smart industries team as principal. Prior to this, he worked for PMB Capital on German M&A and also has experience as a commodity trader at JP Morgan in London.
Patrick Schaich also joined as principal in the connected consumer team. Schaich left his post as principal at The Riverside Company, where he was responsible for the private equity firm's lower-mid-market investments.
Gimv now employs 10 investment professionals in the DACH region and stated that the reason for this expansion is increasing demand from business owners for specialist investors.
Gimv's portfolio in the region currently comprises 11 companies. It recently exited Berlin-based Mackevision in a trade sale to Accenture for an IRR of more than 40%.
