VC-backed Homebell sold to Portal United – report
Portal United is to acquire online home renovation booking platform Homebell, a portfolio company of VCs including Lakestar and Index Ventures, according to local newswire Deutsche Startups, citing Portal United's CEO, Alexander Oberst.
Homebell's website is currently offline. However, Oberst told Deutsche Startups that Portal United aims to assist Homebell with its expansion to the B2B sector.
VCs including Index Ventures, Lakestar, Picus Capital and Saarbruecker 21 invested in a seed round for Homebell in April 2016, alongside a consortium of business angels.
SevenVentures led an $11m funding round for Homebell in January 2018, with participation from Helvetia Ventures, Axa Ventures, Index Ventures, Lakestar and Global Founders Capital. The fresh capital was intended to expand the company's operations in Germany and the Netherlands.
Founded in 2015, Berlin-based Homebell is an online platform that allows customers to book and obtain quotes for home renovations, connecting them with builders and craftsmen.
Lakestar could not be reached for comment. Index Ventures had not responded to a request for comment at the time of publication.
