McDermott adds to German PE team with Noerr and Latham duo
Law firm McDermott Will and Emery is to bolster its Germany-based private equity and M&A practice with the hiring of Noerr’s Holger Ebersberger and Latham & Watkins’ Hanno Witt.
German legal publication Juve first reported the news, with a spokesperson for McDermott subsequently confirming the new hires to Unquote. The spokesperson added that the pair will be based in Munich but that they do not have a confirmed start date.
Ebersberger spent four years as a partner with Noerr, prior to which he spent time at Ashurst, Linklaters, Gleiss Lutz and Skadden, according to LinkedIn. His recent mandates include advising Deutsche Invest Capital Partners on its investment in co-living platform Habyt, as well as Ergon-backed fire safety business SVT's acquisition of Technical Fire Safety Group.
Witt spent six years with Latham & Watkins, most recently as a counsel. He also previously worked at Linklaters. He recently advised Deutsche Beteiligungs AG on the sale of its stake in technical textiles producer Heytex. He was also part of a cross-border team advising Astorg on its acquisition of pharmaceutical CDMO CordenPharma.
McDermott's German private equity team has previously advised on deals including EMZ Partners' investment in medical skin imaging system developer FotoFinder Systems, as well as Emeram and Gimv's investment in online tutoring platform Sofatutor. Its clients also include Apax Partners and HIG Capital, both of whom it has advised on various contemplated healthcare acquisitions in Germant.
