Carlyle promotes nine
The Carlyle Group has appointed Ian Jackson as partner, alongside eight new directors and managing directors.
Jackson is now a partner in the investor's London office, responsible for distressed and corporate opportunities. His previous role was managing director and co-head of Carlyle Strategic Partners, focusing on distressed and special situation investment opportunities.
Jackson sits on the boards of Sterling, Brintons Carpets, Nationwide Accident Repair Services and Klenk Holz.
Before joining his current employer, Jackson was a senior analyst with Deutsche Bank's European distressed products group in London and also spent five years working for Deutsche Bank's Japanese distressed products group in Tokyo.
Carlyle's new managing directors are Brynjar Agnarsson, who looks after investor relations; Fernando Chueca and Thorsten Dippel, responsible for European technology investments; and Alex Stirling, who is now managing director for European buyouts. They are all based in London. Robert Torrini has been named new managing director at AlpInvest in Amsterdam.
The London office also has two new directors: Szymon Jaroszewski for European structured credit and Chris Scott for European buyouts. The third appointment was in Johannesburg, where Bruce Steen is new director for the Sub-Saharan Africa Fund.
