Leithner to join EQT from Deutsche Bank
Stephan Leithner has been made a partner at EQT’s Munich office, being the first member of Deutsche Bank’s management board to leave amid its restructuring.
He will take up his new role in March 2016, joining from Deutsche Bank, where he worked since 2000. There he was a member of the management board and CEO of Europe in his latest roles. He started at the bank's European M&A business, before a promotion to co-head of the corporate finance division.
Leithner's departure is the first to arise from the restructuring of Deutsche Bank's management board, which the new chief executive John Cryan recently promised.
Leithner was among Deutsche Bank staff criticised by the German regulator, Bafin, for their involvement in the Libor fixing scandal.
Before joining Deutsche Bank, Leithner was partner at McKinsey.
