OpCapita buys AppelrathCüpper from Advent
OpCapita has acquired German womenswear retailer AppelrathCüpper from Advent International.
The GP bought the business from Moda Holding, a holding company jointly held by the Kreke family and Advent International.
OpCapita plans to continue the growth strategy implemented by Advent by expanding the store network and enhancing the integration of online and offline sales channels.
The transaction was made via the OpCapita Consumer Opportunities Fund, which held its final closing at the end of 2014. It is the fund's second German portfolio company. In March 2014, OpCapita acquired NKD, a German discount clothing retailer.
Under Advent's ownership, the business launched a new online shop in September 2015.
Previous funding
The sale of AppelrathCüpper is part of Advent's exit from Douglas Holding, a multi-sector group the GP acquired in 2012 for more than €1bn.
Company
AppelrathCüpper operates 13 stores in Germany selling high-end brands including Hugo Boss, Marc Cain, Burberry, Armani Collezioni, Tommy Hilfiger and Marco Polo, as well as its own private label range.
The business was founded in 1882 and has 870 employees.
