Bregal buys Kunststoff Schwanden
German Mittelstand buyout firm Bregal Unternehmerkapital has acquired a majority stake in Swiss plastic parts producer Kunststoff Schwanden.
The deal is the result of the owner's succession plan, which sees Kunststoff Schwanden's current CEO and CFO acquire shares in the business and continue in their roles, alongside other members of the senior management. The production facilities in Schwanden and Näfels will remain the property of selling owner Albert Kiener and will be rented out to Kunststoff Schwanden.
Bregal said in a statement there are increasing customer requirements to be on the ground as a supplier in regions such as China, Mexico and the US, which is the basis of an internalisation of Kunststoff Schwanden's production sites. A later expansion into central and eastern Europe is also tabled as a possibility.
Company
Founded in 1883, Kunststoff Schwanden has two production facilities in Switzerland, in Schwanden and Näfels. The business makes plastic components for packaging, technical parts, household appliances and automobile technology. It has 500 employees.
