IK acquires ZytoService from Capiton
IK Investment Partners has bought German pharmaceutical business ZytoService from Capiton in a secondary buyout.
IK Investment Partners acquired the business via an auction process organised by Ferber. According to Reuters, PAI Partners was also among the bidders and the deal valued the business at an EV of around €250m. The deal sees existing backer Capiton fully exit the business.
IK told unquote" that due to the ageing population in Germany, the market for oncological treatments is growing by 6-8% annually. Despite the organic growth, IK plans to apply a buy-and-build strategy for the business.
The GP hopes to build on its previous experience in the healthcare sector. It sold homecare service company GHD to Nordic Capital in 2014 and claimed to have almost doubled the company's revenues during its tenure. The GP first met ZytoService's founders during its time at the helm of GHD.
IK's equity was tapped from its IK VIII Fund, which hit its €1.6bn target at second close in September this year.
Previous funding

Capiton claims that sales have more than quadrupled during its investment. Since 2012, the company also delivers its products to the Netherlands.
