
HQ Equita sells Stettler to Groupe Imi
German private equity house HQ Equita has sold its controlling stake in Swiss glass producer Stettler Sapphire to French family-owned industrial business Groupe Imi, after a five-year holding period.
Financial details surrounding the transaction have not been disclosed.
Previous funding
In July 2011, HQ Equita acquired a majority stake in the business from the founding family and existing shareholders, including the management team. During its ownership period, the GP boosted the technological development of the firm's two production plants, in Switzerland and Mauritius.

Established in 1881, Stettler produces sapphire-based glass for the luxury goods industry, mainly focusing on watch producers, as well as high-tech applications across the industrial sectors, such as optics, electronics and pharmaceuticals.
The company is headquartered in Lyss, Switzerland, and also has a presence in Mauritius. It currently employs a staff of 315.
