Hannover Finanz purchases majority stake in Widos
German private equity firm Hannover Finanz has acquired a controlling stake in Wilhelm Dommer Söhne (Widos).
As part of the transaction, the GP will acquire an 80% stake, while existing shareholder Finexx will retain a 10% holding alongside the management team with an equal stake. Following the deal, the managers will continue to lead the company. The founding family will fully exit the business.
Furthermore, the company aims to use the capital injection to boost its international expansion through bolt-on acquisitions.

Founded in 1946 and headquartered in Ditzingen, near Stuttgart, Widos manufactures welding machines for plastic pipes, sockets and sheets. It focuses on the gas, water and mining segments.
According to a statement, the company has 100 employees and generated a €13m turnover in 2016.
