Cobe buys Völker from Hill-Rom
Cobe Capital has acquired German hospital bed distributor Völker from Hill-Rom Holdings for an undisclosed sum.
The deal marks the end of a five-year holding period for Hill-Rom, which acquired Völker for $85m in February 2012.
Völker generated revenues of €40m in 2016, a considerable drop from the €100m reported for 2010 at the time of Hill-Rom's acquisition.
Hill-Rom expects to record an after-tax special charge of €30m for the non-cash write-down of assets and transaction-related costs.
Previous funding
Hill-Rom acquired Völker for $85m in 2012 to diversify its product portfolio in patient support systems and medical technology.
Company
Völker was founded in 1912 by Heinrich Völker as a cabinet maker. His grandson Heinrich Völker III took the company into the specialised healthcare sector in 1967. The company now specialises in the production and distribution of a range of healthcare beds and other hospital furniture across Europe and the US. The company was started in Witten where it is still headquartered, although it now also has operations in the UK.
