
Nord Holding sells Wemas to Gimv
Nord Holding has sold German highway barrier engineering company Wemas Absperrtechnik to Gimv for an undisclosed sum.
The sale ends a six-year holding period for Nord Holding, which acquired a majority stake in the company in 2011. CEO Markus Schwinn and his management team will retain a minority stake in the company after the sale.
Wemas plans to expand into adjacent road safety markets and expand internationally, as well as grow its core DACH-based business. It will consider targeting acquisitions in adjacent segments.
In September 2011, the company employed 100 people and reported a turnover of €30m. It now employs 120 people and generated €33m in sales for 2016.
Previous funding
In September 2011, Nord Holding announced the acquisition of Wemas from private owner Siegfried Kwasny. Debt was arranged by WGZ Bank and Volksbank Gütersloh.
