
Wise Road backs joint venture with Ams in $120m deal
Austria-based listed company Ams has signed an agreement to create a joint venture with Chinese private equity firm Wise Road Capital involving its flow and pressure sensors business.
The agreement values the joint venture at approximately $120m.
Under the agreement, all employees, IP, sensor products and customers will transfer from Ams to the joint venture. Wise Road will provide guidance, market knowledge, and understanding of customer relationships, especially in China. Wise Road's network covers the automotive, telecommunications, industrial control and home appliances sectors.
The joint venture will comprise Ams' environmental sensor portfolio, covering air quality, relative humidity and temperature sensing, its ultrasound-based flow sensor products, and its pressure sensor development business.
The company will be headquartered in the Netherlands. Current general manager of Ams' environmental sensors business and former CEO of its applied sensors business, Stefan Raible, will act as managing director for the new company.
The deal is expected to conclude in 2019.
