VR Equitypartner backs Megabad
VR Equitypartner has acquired a minority stake in Cologne-based bathroom furniture retailer Megabad.
Frankfurt-based VR Equitypartner does not invest from a standard closed-ended fund but has approximately €500m in equity invested in 100 companies.
VR Equitypartner CEO Christian Futterlieb said in a statement that Megabad is an example of a strong family-owned Mittelstand company that has successfully made the transition to a multi-channel retailer.
The company plans to continue its growth plan and expand into other western European markets with VR Equitypartner's support.
Company
Megabad was founded in 1934 in Cologne and has been active online since 2003. It sells bathroom furniture from a range of brands from its two shops in Cologne and Bochum, as well as through its website. It employs 200 people.
