Russmedia Partners buys majority stake in Bergfex
Russmedia Equity Partners has acquired a majority stake in Austria-based Alpine online tourism platform Bergfex.
Bergfex's founders, Markus Kümmel, Oliver Jusinger and Andreas Koßmeier, will remain in their management roles and will hold a 40% stake in the business.
The company plans to continue its focus on mountain tourism and to add to its service offering.
Russmedia invests via a one-LP evergreen fund, focusing on digital companies such as online marketplaces and software-as-a-service businesses. The GP invests in profit-making companies with EBITDA of more than €500,000 and at least €2m in revenues. The firm deploys equity tickets of up to €50m and aims to grow its portfolio companies' EBITDA to at least €2m within three to five years.
No debt was used to back the investment.
Bergfex will work in cooperation with Russmedia portfolio company Alpinresorts, an online ski hiring business, and the GP is also reviewing other businesses in the same segment.
The GP has made a number of investments in the tourism sector, including platform investment Erento and the add-on of Campanda, announced in May 2020.
