Ambienta buys SF-Filter
Enivornmental-business-focused GP Ambienta has acquired a majority stake in Swiss filter producer SF-Filter.
Ambienta plans to support SF-Filter's expansion via add-on acquisitions in other European countries. The company also plans to hire new staff, particularly in the fields of distribution, marketing and sales.
The GP, which is specialised in environmental businesses, argues that modern filtration technology contributes to the reduction of pollutant emission and reduces energy consumption, especially in the field of heating, ventilating and air conditioning, or in hydraulic systems, thereby contributing to a sustainable use of resources and a healthier environment.
Following the acquisition, Jochen Zähringer, currently responsible for SF-Filter's German operations, will be promoted to CEO.
For Ambienta, it is the third investment in the German speaking region in the last year. In January, the GP acquired Mikrotron, a German developer of high-speed machine vision. Ambienta also bought a stake in German wood coating company Oskar Nolte for €20m in April 2015. The GP said the three acquisitions have a combined EV of €200m.
Company
Founded in 1968 and based in Zurich, SF-Filter distributes mobile and industrial filters for oil, air, fuel, hydraulic, gas, pneumatic, liquid, de-dusting, heating, ventilating and air conditioning-related applications.
The company claims to have 30,000 European customers ranging from original equipment manufacturers to resellers, as well as end-clients. SF-Filter operates its largest warehouse in Switzerland, with additional sites in Germany, Austria, France and Poland.
Its product offering consists of both independent and SF-Filters own-brand filters. Its last reported annual sales were CHF 80m.
