Emerald holds second close for third fund
Switzerland-based Emerald Technology Ventures has held a second close for its third venture fund, Emerald Technology Ventures III.
The amount of the second closing was undisclosed, but the GP stated it was looking at a final €100m target.
Emerald Technology Ventures III held a first close in September 2012. New investors at the time included trade players ABB, Clariant and Sulzer, as well as family offices. Previous Emerald investors also took part.
With operating offices in Zurich and Toronto, Canada, Emerald manages three venture capital funds and two venture capital portfolio mandates totaling more than €300m.
Investors
This second close saw three new corporate investors join existing LPs: industrial group Evonik Industries, automotive supplier MAHLE and minerals producer Cofisa.
Investments
The fund will target early-stage and expansion investments in the energy, water and materials sectors.
People
Emerald's 11-strong team is headed by managing partner Gina Domanig.
