Arcano launches EUR250m Earth fund-of-funds

Arcano has launched Arcano Earth Fund, a private equity fund-of-funds focusing on clean technologies and renewable energy fund managers around the world. The fund has a target of EUR250m.
Investors
The type of investors that the fund is targeting are investors that want to make returns of 15x+ in a growing sector which is diverse in sub-sectors, stage of technological maturity and geography, and which is best played on a global scale through a diversified approach.
Investments
The fund will target up to 15 fund managers specialising on renewable energies and clean technologies, representing around 150 companies in the sector. It expects to direct 70% of its commitments towards European and US fund managers, with the remaining 30% allocated to the rest of the world, particularly BRIC countries. At the development stage, 85% of the fund will target fund managers investing in mature technologies and projects, while the remaining 15% will be earmarked for venture funds. The fund will reserve 30% of its capital for co-investments and the purchase of secondary positions in existing funds.
People
The fund will be managed by Lorenzo Nogales who will be supported by a five-person advisory board led by Jose Maria Figueres-Olsen, the former president of Costa Rica and adviser at the World Economic Forum.
