Inven et al. raise eight-digit series-C for Sunfire
Inven Capital and a group of private investors have led an eight-digit series-C for Sunfire, a German developer of high-temperature fuel cells and electrolysers.
Existing investors Total Energy Ventures and Electranova Capital invested as well, alongside the company's founders.
Sunfire intends to use the funds for future market development and product industrialisation.
Previous funding
In February 2014, Electranova and Total Energy provided a seven-digit sum for Sunfire's series-B. An earlier series-A funding round had garnered investments from business angels, Bilfinger Venture Capital and KfW's ERP Startfonds.
Company
Founded in 2010 and headquartered in Dresden, Sunfire develops new technologies for efficient, closed-carbon-cycle energy supply. The cleantech firm focuses on high-temperature electrolysis, which enables the conversion of regenerative electricity to liquid fuels or gas, and the further development of high-temperature fuel cells.
People
Carl Berninghausen is the co-founder and CEO of Sunfire. Petr Míkovec is managing director at Inven.
