HRJ raises $195m for distressed fund-of-funds

HRJ Capital has reached the final closing of HRJ Special Opportunities Fund I, LP, its $195m distressed opportunities fund-of-funds. The fund is already fully committed. HRJ Capital is an alternative investment firm with $2.3bn in assets under management that specialises in creating alternative fund-of-funds investment opportunities across the venture capital, buyouts, real estate and hedge sectors. The fund has built a global portfolio with commitments to managers that specialise in distressed/turnaround situations.
Investors
Investors include a diverse group, including endowments, foundations, pension plans, family offices, investment advisors and select high-net-worth individuals. A significant portion of the investor base is located outside the US, including the countries of Germany, the UK and France.
Investments
The fund is currently fully committed with a diversified portfolio of US and international private equity funds focused on distressed debt, restructuring, turnarounds and special situations.
People
Managing director Duran Curis oversees the Special Opportunities Investment portfolio. In total, HRJ Capital has 55 employees and offices in San Francisco, Chicago, New York, Zurich and Shanghai.
