French Senate research proposals
On 8 February, Christian Poncelet, chairman of the French Senate, organised a 'Tremplin Recherche' or research springboard day at the senate to pursue ways of improving the country's research facilities. The event was essentially dedicated to researchers, universities, investors, entrepreneurs and politicians. Based on their valuable input, the Senate's proposals will be passed onto the government to implement various measures. The speakers included, notably, Janez Potocnik, European commissioner for science and research, François d'Aubert, government research minister, Professor Philippe Kourilsky, CEO of the Pasteur Institute and Professor Etienne-Emile Baulieu, former chairman of the Académie des Sciences.
