Lovells merges with French legal firm Siméon & Associés
Lovells - the fourth largest law firm in Europe – has announced that it is to merge with the French legal firm, Siméon & Associés, on 1st November. The new group will be known as Lovells and will include 2,800 employees based in 26 European, Asian and North American cities. Robert Follie, the previous deputy manager of Lovells’ French office, will be chairman of the new board of directors. Siméon & Associés currently has 12 partners and 35 other lawyers divided between Paris and Brussels, while Lovells has offices in 26 locations across Europe, Asia and the US, and this merger is part of an ongoing European expansion strategy. Earlier this year, Lovells also completed a merger with Dutch firm Ekelmans Den Hollander and established offices in Italy and Hungary. Lovells was created in January 2000 following a merger between Lovell White Durrant and Boesebeck Droste; it is currently the eighth largest law firm in the world. Siméon & Associés was established in 1974. Its operation is split between Paris and Brussels.
