CDP Sofinove to increase investment in Europe
CDP Sofinove, the venture capital arm of Caisse des Dépôts et Placement du Québec, has announced that it intends to triple its levels of investment in Europe over the next five years. The institution, which is based in Montreal, and has an office in Paris, has, until recently, concentrated a third of its investments in American biotechnology companies, while investments in Europe accounted for only 5% of its business. However, it recently raised a C$ 1.5bn fund, of which 15-20% has been earmarked for investment in European unquoted companies.
