Alcatel European Distribution
A deal which was first announced in January, the acquisition of the European distribution activities of Alcatel by US private buyout firm Platinum Equity, has completed and has been valued at EUR 1.3bn by unconfirmed reports. Headquartered in Colombes, in the Paris region, the acquired business provides solutions, equipment, maintenance and post-sale support to companies setting up network services. It currently generates a turnover of EUR 2.8bn and employs around 6,500 people. Phil Norment coordinated the deal on behalf of Platinum Equity, which is believed to have paid cash for the acquisition without taking on any of the companyÂ’s debt. No further financial details of the deal are available. Following the sale, the Alcatel operations were merged with those of NextirOne, which is a Platinum Equity portfolio company.
