Orsay gains ground
The law firm Orsay Avocats Associés had one of its busiest years to date in 2002. The company advised on more than 20 private equity transactions, including the buyout of the insurance company Cornhill France by AXA Private Equity and the buy-in management buyout of Giga Store. Banexi Ventures Partners also sought advise from the Paris-based law firm when it invested in a EUR 21.15m round of institutional funding for Meristem Therapeutics. After assuming an advisory role on the investments in Kaidara Software and Arkoon Network Security, this year looks set to be just as fruitful as 2002 for Orsay. Created in 1986 and now comprising 11 lawyers in total, the firm is still relatively small, yet positions itself amongst some of the larger players in Paris in terms of deal values and volumes. The business is split into three fields; venture, expansion and buyouts, with a team of lawyers dedicated to each specific area.
