Goldman Sachs acquires buyout funds from SG Capital Europe
Reports in the European press have stated that the secondary fund manager Goldman Sachs Vintage Funds has acquired two pan-European buyout funds managed by SG Capital Europe, the private equity fund manager formerly owned by Société Générale. The two vehicles are co-managed by the group’s Paris, Munich and Milan offices and have committed over EUR 300m to companies across Europe since 1997. It is also reported that Goldman Sachs has agreed an acquisition price of $220m and will subsequently replace Société Générale as sole limited partner. Led by Philippe Sevin, SG Capital Europe will continue to manage the investments. In addition to the acquisition, reports in the press have also outlined that Goldman Sachs has agreed to sponsor a new fund launched by SG Capital Europe with a $180m cornerstone investment.
