AFIC
Hélène Ploix, chair of Pechel Industries, has been named as the new president of the French venture capital association, AFIC. Before joining Pechel Industries in 1997, Ploix was deputy managing director of Caisse de Dépôts et Consignations between 1989 and 1995. Between 1986 and 1989 she acted as one of the French administrators of the International Monetary Fund and was a French representative at the World Bank. Previously, between 1978 and 1982, she has also been managing director of the Banque Industrielle et Mobilière Privée (BIMP). Pechel Industries was set up by Worms & Cie, Arnault and IFI (the Agnelli family vehicle) in summer 1995 to take substantial minority shareholdings in unquoted companies in order to form long-term partnerships. Ploix was deputy chair of AFIC last year and has been succeeded by Xavier Moreno of Astorg.
