On 13 January 2004, Apax Partners in Paris announced six new appointments. Hervé Descazeaux has become partner to the group. Descazeaux joined Apax Partners in 1998 and specialised in leveraged buyouts, privatisations and turnaround transactions. He is on the boards of Frans Bonhomme and Outremer Telecom. Prior to that, he worked for eight years at PricewaterhouseCoopers in Paris and in the US, in charge of audit and due diligence on international deals. Bruno Candelier and Simon Marc have been appointed as managers of the business and financial services section. Candelier joined Apax Partners in 2001 and specialised in leveraged buyouts, with a focus on business and financial services. He began his career in 1995 as a consultant for McKinsey & Company where he mainly worked on strategic, financial and operational development projects in France, the UK and South Africa. Candelier holds a Civil Engineering degree from Ecole Nationale des Mines and an MBA from INSEAD. Marc joined Apax Partners in 2000 and specialised in leveraged buyouts, with a focus on business and financial services. He began his career at Goldman Sachs, where he worked for the Whitehall private equity fund and was in charge of hotel business development throughout Europe. Marc graduated from the Hautes Etudes Commerciales business school. Geoffrey Leland and Stanislas Pilot have been appointed as managers of the group's IT/Telecom division. Leland joined Apax Partners in 2000 as a member of the information technology and telecommunications team. He was formerly an associate in SG Cowen's London-based technology and corporate finance division. Leland started his career at Associés en Finance in Paris. He holds an undergraduate degree from the University of Pennsylvania and an MBA with distinction from UC Berkeley's Haas School. He has dual US-French nationality and is fluent in French, Italian and English. Pilot joined Apax early in 2003 as a senior associate in the IT / Telecom team. He began his career in 1995 as a business analyst for Analysys in Cambridge, prior to joining the telecom division of Bossard Consultants as a management consultant in Paris. In 1999, he joined the strategy division of Gemini Consulting North America in Boston, where he became head of the Telecom and Media Strategic Research Group. Pilot is a graduate from Ecole Nationale Supérieure des Télécommunications de Paris (MSc ) and holds an MBA from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT) and an MA in industrial economics from the Paris IX Dauphine University.
