AFIC comments on strong growth in H1 2004
A report issued by the French venture capital association AFIC has highlighted the strong growth of the countryÂ’s private equity market in the first half of 2004. According to the associationÂ’s statistics, funds raised in H1 this year amounted to EUR 865m, representing growth of 7% on 2003Â’s figures. In the same timeframe, the total amount of French investment from private equity funds reached EUR 1.81bn, a rise of 9% on the same period last year. All monies invested were committed to 799 companies in total, up from the 730 registered in H1 2003. According to AFIC, French investments corresponded to 23% of total private equity activity in Europe in the first half of this year in comparison to 20% for the same period in 2003.
