Duke Street Capital Debt Management Limited has changed its name to Babson Capital Europe
Duke Street Capital Debt Management Limited, one of the largest investors in the European leveraged loan market, announced in October that it has changed its name to Babson Capital Europe Limited.The company was acquired by Babson Capital Management LLC, a member of the MassMutual Financial Group, in May 2004 and is Babson Capital ManagementÂ’s first European subsidiary. Babson Capital Europe is an institutional debt fund manager that specialises in CDOs (collateralised debt obligations) backed by leveraged loans. The firm invests in senior loans, mezzanine loans and buyout-related high-yield bonds, predominantly in Europe. Following the successful close of Duchess III in July 2004, Babson Capital Europe now has EUR 2bn of funds under management. The latest, a EUR 450m fund, focuses on senior secured and mezzanine loans within the leveraged finance market and will benefit from the favourable default and recovery characteristics of its collateral mix. Assets are highly diversified by industry, geography and asset type with a target mix of 80% senior secured and 20% mezzanine loans. All assets are rated by both Standard & PoorÂ’s and MoodyÂ’s.
