Bruno Bézard named managing partner at Cathay Capital
Bruno Bézard, a former managing director of France's interdepartemental auditing and supervisory body Inspectorate General of Finances, has joined Cathay Capital Private Equity's international team as managing partner.
Bézard will officially leave his current function of managing director of the French Republic's public finances on 23 June and join Cathay in July.
The Frenchman will be joining the firm as part of a project to build a new investment vehicle within the Cathay platform aimed at financing European and Asian companies. He will also work with Cathay's French portfolio companies, focusing on their international scope.
Bézard and Cathay's president Mingo Cai are said to have met in Beijing in 2011 through a mutual friend.
In 2002-2003, Bézard was head of the Equity Investments Department at the French Treasury before being appointed successively deputy managing director and then managing director of the French State Shareholding Agency (APE) in 2003 and 2007.
From 2010-2012, he worked at the French Embassy in China, where he headed the Greater China Regional Economic Department. In 2012, he was named director of France's public finances, before being named managing director in 2014.
