Goodwin Procter appoints two partners to Paris office
Law firm Goodwin Procter has appointed Marie-Laurent Bruneel and Arnaud David as partners within its Paris office, continuing its expansion in the French capital.
David joins from beleaguered firm King & Wood Mallesons (KWM) with a team of four lawyers: Sarah Michel and Pierre-Charles Kaladji, senior lawyers, and Thibault Dupont and Xavier Couderc-Frani, junior lawyers. Formerly at the Paris office of KWM, the five-strong team has worked with a range of fund types, including buyout, mezzanine, infrastructure and debt. It has also managed incentive schemes and co-investment agreements.
Bruneel joins from law firm De Pardieu Brocas Maffei, where she specialised in corporate taxation, entailing the tax aspects of structuring and financing M&A and private equity transactions, real estate investments and restructurings. She also has experience with alternative asset investments.
The partners' appointment is in line with the firm's wish to develop its private equity and private investment funds practice, Goodwin Procter said in a statement.
The appointments come concomitantly with Goodwin Procter's hire of 26 members of KWM's London-based investment funds team, including partners Michael Halford, Ed Hall, Laura Charkin, Shawn D'Aguiar, Patrick Deasy, Ajay Pathak, and 15 associates.
The firm's London office has also been expanding in recent times, with partners Mark Soundy, former co-head of private equity and global head of private capital at Shearman & Sterling, and Sarah Priestley, former London head of tax at Shearman & Sterling, having joined in December.
