21 Centrale organises succession with Barbier promotion

The French arm of 21 Partners has promoted François Barbier to deputy CEO as it plans the succession of founding managing partner Gérard Pluvinet.
Hitherto a managing partner at 21 Centrale Partners in Paris, Barbier (pictured) will now work alongside Pluvinet to oversee the investment strategy for the firm's fifth fund. He will then succeed Pluvinet as the head of the French team when the founding managing partner steps down to join 21 Centrale's supervisory board in 2019.
Barbier has a long-standing relationship with Pluvinet. He joined 21 Centrale in 1998 – prior to this he worked from 1988 as an executive alongside Pluvinet at Société Centrale pour l’Industrie.
21 Centrale has made further changes to its governance in addition to the deputy CEO announcement. Managing partner Cédric Abitbol was named advising partner, in charge of client services and best practices. Abitbol has been working with 21 Centrale since 2005 as international business development officer, with a focus on global investor coordination, industry best practices, brand building and international development.
Meanwhile, principal Francois Tranié, who joined the firm in 2006, was given additional responsibilities as finance and structuring officer.
The reshuffle however resulted in the exit of Jacques Rossignol, who joined 21 Centrale in 2008 and became managing partner in 2014. Prior to this, he spent five years with Acto Capital / Finama Private Equity. Rossignol will leave the firm to join Alpha Private Equity, according to a source close to the situation.
21 Centrale's investment committee now comprises Gérard Pluvinet, François Barbier, Stéphane Perriquet, Fabrice Voituron and Antoine Vigneron. Voituron and Vigneron were promoted to partner level in September last year. The GP is currently in the process of raising its fifth fund, which is understood to have a target in the region of €400m.
