Freshfields poaches five Paris-based partners from Ashurst
Freshfields Bruckhaus Deringer has appointed five ex-Ashurst partners in its Paris office to boost its corporate M&A and finance practices.
Guy Benda, Nicolas Barberis and Yann Gozal will work on corporate M&A and private equity assignments for the firm, advising financial institutions, private equity funds and large multinationals.
Barberis was previously co-head of the private equity practice at Ashurst and will head up Freshfields' global financial investors practice in France. Benda specialises in M&A and LBOs, while Gozal also focuses on public-to-private transactions, PIPEs and IPOs.
Laurent Mabilat and Stéphanie Corbière will join the firm's finance group. Both specialise in leveraged and acquisition finance, as well as debt restructuring; they will focus on banking financings for sponsors, financial institutions, large corporate clients and distressed debt investors.
