Amundi, Atomic Energy Commission launch Supernova Invest
Amundi Private Equity and the French Atomic Energy Commission (CEA) have partnered to create Supernova Invest – a €230m technology-focused private equity firm.
The new firm is co-owned by CEA Investissement and Amundi Private Equity Funds, which each own a 40% stake, with the balance going to the CEA Investissement team.
Supernova Invest will take over the running of existing strategies run by CEA's investment arm, CEA Investissement. It will also create and manage other strategies focused on financing technological innovation projects in France.
The entity will manage several funds, including Crédit Agricole Innovations et Territoires, and will focus on companies at all stages of maturity. According to CEA, Supernova is targeting €1bn in assets under management by 2020.
Supernova is also intended to create and manage new third-party funds to finance technological innovation projects in France, Amundi said in a statement.
The Crédit Agricole Innovations et Territoires fund aims to invest in young technology companies operating in the agriculture, energy, environment, housing, healthcare and tourism sectors. The €50m fund could reach €100m by 2020, the GP added.
