Tilt Capital Partners to launch Clean Energy Fund
Paris-based Tilt Capital Partners has announced its intention to launch its €300m Clean Energy Fund, which expects to hold a first close in Q2 2019.
Nicolas Lepareur, Nicolas Piau and Nathanaël Krivine – former executives of Engie (one of the largest French electric utility companies) – formed Tilt to focus on investments in energy transition businesses, featuring an ESG-focused approach.
Investments will target businesses dedicated to energy transition, whether in terms of electrification, the lowering of emissions or energy efficiency. Tilt intends to acquire substantial minority stakes in profitable businesses. The provided tickets will be in the €10-50m size range, with a €10-20m sweet spot.
In terms of geography, at least 80% of investments will be headquartered in Europe, and opportunistically up to 20% in some specific US energy markets (California, New York and New England). A developed ESG strategy is a key requirement for Tilt's portfolio businesses.
