Colony and Butler Capital to exit PSG
Colony Capital and Butler Capital are about to sell French football club Paris St Germain (PSG) to the Qatar Investment Authority (QIA), according to French daily Le Parisien.
The sovereign wealth fund could pay up to €40m for a 70% stake in the club. This price could however include the €19m loss posted by the PSG last year. If the deal goes through, the QIA would reportedly initiate a capital increase operation to fund the club's expansion, which would further dilute Colony's and Butlers' stakes.
The private equity firms are unlikely to gain much from the transaction, since they acquired the PSG from Canal+ for €41m in 2006.
