Astorg hires Rothschild's de Malliard as partner and COO
French GP Astorg Partners has appointed Guillaume de Malliard, hitherto managing partner at Rothschild & Cie, as partner and COO.
De Malliard, who currently vice-chairs the supervisory board of French cosmetics group Clarins, will be based in Astorg's Paris office and will oversee areas such as finance, legal and HR for the firm.
De Malliard started out as a finance and external communications professional at bank holding Compagnie Bancaire, where he worked between 1990-1995.
In 1998, after three years as chief of staff for Paris archbishop Jean-Marie Lustiger, he returned to the financial sector when Compagnie Bancaire merged with Paribas; the resulting group put him in charge of marketing and product engineering.
In 2000, he was appointed director of wealth engineering and development by Rothschild & Cie, which promoted him to managing partner seven years later.
De Malliard is the third partner to have joined Astorg's ranks since early July, when directors Lorenzo Zamboni and Stéphane Epin were promoted by the GP.
