Chequers and Abenex looking to exit Salins
Chequers Capital and Abénex Capital have hired Lazard to manage the sale of French salt producer Salins International, according to media reports.
The company could reportedly fetch up to €300m. Chequers and Abénex bought Salins from Crédit Agricole in 2004; they took part in a €20m capital increase three years later when the business was refinanced.
Founded in 1856, Salins produces salt for various usages; it notably targets the food, agriculture, chemical industry, de-icing, water treatment and industrial activity markets. The group employs around 1,500 people and generates a €300m turnover.
