Alven Capital et al. invest €3m in Happyview.fr
Alven Capital and a consortium of private investors have provided French online optician Happyview.fr with €3m of growth capital funding.
Alven was particularly attracted to the online optical market, which allows the significant number of French people wearing glasses – 63% of the population – to purchase them at a substantial discount. It also believes the company's business model compensates for lower margins by generating higher sales volume, less inventories and lower fixed costs.
Happyview.fr will use the funds to reinforce its team, launch new functionality and improve its prominence, with the global aim of strengthening its market position.
Founded in 2009, Happyview.fr is an online optician based in Paris. It allows consumers to purchase prescription glasses at prices three to four times lower than those applied by "brick-and-mortar" opticians. The company employs 12 staff, including four state-certified opticians.
